LEAD – INNOVATE – SHARE - THINK

VALUES

Our core values inform the culture of our company and our building practices. We aim to:

  • Transform home building: We are leading the way in building beautiful, high-performance homes that minimize the use of resources, reduce harmful effects on the environment. We are creative thinkers who are able to discover elegant solutions to seemingly insolvable problems.
  • Create healthy environments: Abode builds healthy, comfortable homes that feature continuously circulating fresh air for superior indoor air quality, and low or no VOC (volatile organic compound) building materials.
  • Communicate clearly: The relationships we create with our customers are just as important as the homes we build. We work collaboratively with our clients, design professionals, and an established network of highly skilled trade partners. Our exceptional client service is grounded in open communication, trust, and transparency. From our project managers to our on-site clean up crew, our team is fully engaged in the work at hand. With Abode, the entire building experience is one of engagement and enthusiasm.

MISSION

Abode works to design and build homes that transform the way our clients live. This means a total commitment to home building innovation for maximizing economic, environmental, and design performance. We know that as builders, we are stewards of the Earth and important members of our local community. We build solid homes and solid relationships.

TEAM

TONY HANSEN - OWNER Tony Hansen is a third generation Ballard resident. Since founding Abode in 1998, he has been the creative force behind the company. His grandfather, a Norwegian fisherman from the 'Old Country,' taught him that things made by hand have a great and lasting value, and that creativity is often born from making do with what you have. Tony volunteers as a youth sports coach, and enjoys running, backpacking, swimming, sea kayaking, and reading a good novel.

DAN ALLISON - PROJECT LEAD Dan Allison is also a third generation Ballard resident, and building is in his blood. His grandfather built over twelve houses in Ballard — real houses, not ‘Old Ballard’ fishermen’s shacks. His father was a marine engineer who had the know-how to fix just about anything, and Dan is cut from the same cloth. He has a thirst for knowledge and is passionate about smart and efficient building practices. When not on the job, Dan can be found spending time with his family, skiing, sailing, or reading.
